Was there any letdown after snapping a 43-year drought of SEC championships, Tennessee drilled Longwood in the opening round to advance to face a pretty average Michigan team on Saturday. The Vols put 5 guys in double figures, which is huge for an extended tournament run. I’ve always thought Rick Barnes, who grabbed his 150th win at the school, was a very good coach and this Tennessee team boasts depth and they’re able to score in waves. What’s worth noting is that the Vols rank 23rd in scoring defense, while holding their opponents to 40% FG pct.
Tennessee has become an interesting team who battled through the super tough SEC who has a pair of 2-seeds in Auburn and Kentucky. Tennessee is an early 5.5 point favorite against Michigan (o/u 137).
